Clueless???

Dear P109,
I am writing this because Ms. Sarina(the lady from AAD who is in charge of our batch) complained to me today that she received many phone calls from fellow P109-ers asking her for their EOS 1 results.

If all of you had read the sms/email/blog post I wrote, I specifically said, "If you can't go to IMU today, you can give a call to your tutor to get the results.."

PS:I know some of you tried calling your tutors but either they could not be reached or they didn't receive the results yet.

What I need all of you to do is to rummage through that stack of books we received on Day 1 of orientation. You will find a green handbook titled "Information for MPharm Students".

Page 2: tells you the use of the book!

Page 9: Tells you the role of AAD and almost all the answers to the frequently asked questions/queries by most of you!

Page 41: Shows the Academic Session so you all will know when the next semester starts!

AND...
If you do have time, you can flip through the other pages. Who knows you might find out about things you never knew....

Well, I hope I have filled in the loop holes many of you have and hopefully, I get no more complaints from A.A.D.

Happy holidays, and see ya next sem!!

GaikCheng

Regarding Semester 2

The first class on 15th June 2009 starts at 11.45am.. but go to AAD to collect your sem 2 module notes before the class starts.. n english results(for those who took english classes in sem 1) will be given when sem 2 starts...

PTPTN loan

RE: PTPTN loan- I checked with S.A.D. today, n they said the officers might be coming to IMU on the 28th of May, which is next week... Not confirmed, but she said should be sometime next week... So, be prepared n please tell your friends!

PS: I will forward an email to all of you when I know the exact date from S.A.D

Student Ambassador Programme

Dear P109, I, Gaik Cheng, have forwarded an email regarding the Student Ambassador Programme to your personal emails.. Do check it out as there r attached forms and more info regarding the programme there!

Hey guys,

Can you put the following information on your blogs and/or send it to all your batchmates? Please upload the attached files to your blog or send it to your batchmates, thanks!

1. Students Ambassadors Programme

The new Student Ambassadors Programme, in essence to develop students’ leadership which includes their networking skills, presentation skills, public speaking skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills etc. To achieve this, the SSD will be organizing many trainings and practical hands-on sessions for the Student Ambassadors. These students will be organizing and participating in many on campus as well as external events. They will also be invited to high profile events like IMEC, AC and other conferences as student representatives.

Please read the foreword (attached, For_M208_and_Mp109) and the information sheet for more details.

Applications for the Student Ambassadors Programme is now open (Application form attached), please submit your applications to the Student Services Department by by 6th of June 2009 (MPharm) and 20th of June 2009 (Medicine). You may send the your applications online to Ms Aznah via aznah_arshad@imu.edu.my. You may also obtain all the required information from SSD.

I do realise that we (M208 and MP109) are all on holidays so it's pretty hard to distribute the information but I think the Student Ambassador's Programme is really good for the students, which is why I've requested for it to be open starting from your batches and not the following one, even though we are on a very tight schedule. I hope to have your assistance in making sure everyone in your batch knows about the Student Ambassadors Programme, please tell me any suggestions you have to publicise the programme other than through the batch blog. Thanks!

Jodie

Info Day job for students

Dear Batchreps,

First of all I'd like to remind everyone to keep the Student Lounge clean. We have found various stains and equipment has been broken. Please let your batchmates know that if any equipment is broken they should inform the SRC immediately otherwise it is hard for us to get it fixed.

We are looking for 50 volunteers for Info Day, which is on 14th June. The pay will be RM 15 for half a day and RM 30 for full day. Please ask your batchmates to sign up with you or email us at imusrc@gmail.com with the heading "Info Day". It will be a "first come first serve" thing.

Also, the SRC has taken the initiative to sort out all the noticeboards according to the type of notices that will go on them. So please inform those who have put up notices please check out the Social Concerns Representatives page and see where to move your notices to.

Yours sincerely,

Convocation

Dear All,

Convocation will be on 30 May 2009. This is the first time Convocation will be held in Bukit Jalil Campus instead of Sheraton hotel! How exciting!

This is for the following reasons:
1. To showcase the campus, allow parents to experience the environment their child has been studying in and such. Also, nostalgia!
2. To built a stronger rapport between faculty, administration and students
3. To develop the sense of belonging in students

To make this a success, the administration will need a lot of manpower and we would like to recruit 25 ushers to help out on 30th of May.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided, along with a special chance to be treated like a staff and allowed entry to the staff lounge, and an opportunity to experience the grandeur and be part of Convocation.

At the moment we can't confirm any incentives for volunteers, but we really do need your help to make the convocation of our seniors a special one.

We all reap the fruits of the contributions our seniors made to IMU and this is a small chance for us to give something back in appreciation. To volunteer, please email your name and contact details to imusrc@gmail.com or contact Jodie (VP Med) directly at 014-9215715.

Announcements from SRC 6th May 09

1. ECA Computer
I regret to inform you that the ECA computer in the student lounge has been abused by students. I would like to remind everyone that the ECA Computer is for ECA purposes only. Also, on May 5th the computer was not switched off and thus was running overnight. This is detrimental to the CPU.

The computer will soon be password locked and students will need to get the council members to open it as the computers are the under the charge of SSD and thus SRC needs to keep an account of the usage.

Your cooperation in this matter is much appreciated.

On the 5th May 2009 WHO will announce SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands
Vision 2020. WHO will also launch the revised hand hygiene toolkit and
the revised WHO Guidelines for Hand Hygiene in Health Care.

The date 5th May links the ‘fives’ together of the 5th day of the

on the website, is to be able to officially promote hand hygiene
globally on an annual basis every year on this day beginning in 2010.

The students of the M2/07 cohort will launch a hand wash campaign at
the IMU on 5th May. The IMU is One of the 5 institutes in Malaysia out
of 4471 institutes worldwide that has declared commitment and registered
for activities for this global programme.

A message from Prof Didier Pittet on the importance of hand hygiene in
preventing Influenza A (H1N1) could be accessed at
