Announcements from SRC

1. Dentistry and Medical Convo Mag Survey‏

Hey guys, its Arthur.

As you know, the end of our Sem 5 is approaching (or beginning, for you medicals ;P) and so a few of us have to write some articles for our convomag. Me and Amy Chen were given the task of writing up an article apiece on which gender makes the better dentist, male or female. SO, to aid us in getting solid data we created this here survey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/7VWG3KY), and I was wondering if you could just email it to the batch reps of every batch in IMU, along with the faculty so we can write our articles with some statistics instead of just some opinions and convictions.

Thanks a lot!

A 3rd update on Attachment

According to Prof Peter Pook,

it is better to do community pharmacy attachments near your home.
Doing an attachment doesn't mean you will get paid.

You can get referrals from your tutor and pharmacies you were attached to and bring it to Glasgow to be used when applying for a summer attachment there.

MUET and IELTS

All students are required to complete their MUET and IELTS and fulfill the requirements BEFORE transferring to Uni Of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
Those who do not fulfill the requirements may not be allowed to transfer.

FYI: MUET exams are only conducted TWICE a year.

Therefore, anyone who has not sat for either MUET or IELTS are strongly encouraged to do so ASAP.

When you receive your MUET/IELTS results, make a copy of the orignal results, certify it and send it to AAD. There is a tray provided for MUET/IELTS slips.

Updates on Hospital attachment

This is with reference to the previous post regarding the hospital attachment.

To the MQ students,
I've been informed that you can also do attachments at community pharmacies like Watsons and Guardian. Besides that, I've been advised by our seniors to do the attachments during the coming semester 3 break because it will definitely be easier to get a summer placement in UK, that is if u want to do an attachment during the summer holidays.

I'll be getting more info from Mr. David Chong. So, stay tuned :P

GC

"All MQ students are encouraged to do an attachment with a community pharmacy before leaving for Scotland (Sem 4's sem break will be too short), as this will increase the chances of the MQs to get a place for the summer placement (as only 1 or 2 P108 MQ students got the placement). Summer placement increases the chances of MQs for their pharmacy pre-registration, as it is quite competitive in Scotland. MPs are also encouraged to do it too." Wee Kiat, P108

Applying for Hospital Attachment

To P109 MQs.

1. Prepare a formal letter and address it to Registrar.
2. The content inside should include your details:

name, address, intake/program, id, ic, contact number and what purpose of the letter (Title).

3. Send the letter to AAD (Ms. Noorul or Ms. Sarinah).

4. It takes 2 or 3 working days to get the approval. AAD will inform you to collect the letter.

5. After receiving the approved letter, you can send it to whichever hospital you choose to be attached to.

Please take note:
1. The letter from IMU is just an acknowledgment letter as proof that you are a student of IMU.
2. This attachment does not give you credits in Uni. of Strathclyde. It is just for extra exposure/experience. Therefore, it is NOT COMPULSORY to do the attachment.
3. Some hospital attachments will charge a fee.

Batch Video

Hey everyone!

Time flies and we are finally at the end of Semester 3. In just a mere 5-6 months, our MQs will be leaving for Glasgow for their Semester 5. So before the MPs and MQs part ways, I would like to suggest making a BATCH VIDEO as a remembrance for the time we have spent together.

There are examples, for example, our grand senior's "Satisfaction" video, "I Want It That Way" video and "Boomdiada" video, made by Goh Chan Sing.
