Merdeka Day Celebration Sketch‏

Hello all! As you guys might have already heard, IMU will be celebrating Merdeka Day on the 27th of August (this coming Thursday!). I know this is pretty last minute, but I would like you guys to spread the word to your respective batches that we need a group of people to perform a short sketch (around 10 minutes) based on the theme of the celebration which is 'One Malaysia Down Memory Lane'. If anyone would like to volunteer to put together a short sketch for the celebration, do send in an email to imusrc@gmail.com by Tuesday (25th August). Thank you!

3. Clinique Roadshow at IMU


For the fiscal year 2009, MYC will be continuing our series of workshop and road shows for our client Clinique. Clinique has been conducting the above nationwide in 2007 and 2008.



We would like to invite IMU students for an opportunity to participate in the event with your kind consent. We hope to be able to organize this road show at your campus on 14thSeptember 2009. Our workshop will encompass



Basic Skin Care and Make Up Presentation (2 sessions) (Proposed Time: 11am-12pm, 3pm-4pm)

Display booth for Clinique products and Discounted Student Set.

All participants will be given a Goodie Bag with compliments from Clinique worth RM 200.


Minimum participants is 100 students but we can cater up to 200 students


Pre Event Publicity

1. Posters and leaflets to announce the event

2. Assistance in recruitment of participation.

3. All lecturers and staff are welcome to participate.

4. Location / room to conduct the workshop and display venue (preferably nearby)



Event Proper

1. MYC will organise and manage the entire event (9:00am - 5:00pm).

2. MYC is open to working with your college Club and Societies to tie in this event with your own.

Volunteers for the H1N1 screening for Convocation Day (19 Aug)‏

Hey everyone,

In conjunction with the Convocation Day on 19 August 2009, there will be a H1N1 Temperature Screening at all entrance points, similar to the one previously done for the new intake of the BPharm and Health Sciences batches. We would be recruiting around 30 volunteers to conduct the temperature screening, so for those of you who are interested, kindly hand in your names and contact numbers to your respective batch reps by Monday (17 Aug). We are very sorry for having to inform you in such a short period of time.

And by the way, Dr Ranjit who is in-charge of the event would want to meet the volunteers on Tuesday (18 Aug). Anyhow, we'll keep you posted. Thanks for your time and attention.

Influenza A (H1N1) - MSPTM Mid- Year seminar‏


The Malaysian Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine (MSPTM) will be holding a Mid-Year Seminar on Influenza A (H1N1) on Thursday, 20th August 2009, 3.00 - 5.00pm at our IMU Dewan Cancelor, Level 4, Bukit Jalil. The seminar is opened to all staff members and students. Enclosed is the programme for your reference.

HEP-IPTS debate competition


I'm Melody, PR rep for debate club. Could you please post the bold words in your batch blog and post up the poster attached along too. Thanks.


We will be organising a HEP-IPTS debate competition this Saturday which is 15 August 2009. It will be held in Lecture Theatre 3 (NOT Auditorium B as previously mentioned). Please note the changes. The theme is "Book Smart Vs Street Smart." Preliminaries will start at 8 am. Free lunch will be served at 12pm and semi-finals will commence at 2pm. We greatly welcome everyone to join us at 12pm for lunch and then watch the semi-finals debate. Dinner will also be provided. It's going to be a HUGE event with the Ministry of Higher Education backing us up. Other participating universities such as Taylor's University College, HELP university college and MMU will be there.

I am Kyi Saw Tin from ME2/08 and I am doing publicity for speech competition on 2nd of September organised by speech club. Hello Guys!! I'm Karim from M207 Malaysian Studies Class. I want to inform you all that we're having a major event for our project entitled 'MALAYSIA: ROAD TO 2009'

In the afternoon, we're having a carnival with lots of FOODS, GAMES, AND EXHIBITION. Besides that, there'll also be a variety of cultural performances including traditional dances, chinese flute and singing performance. To cap it off, there'll be A FASHION SHOW, with IMU students as the models. They'll be showcasing sponsored clothings, hair-style and make-up.

We'd also like to request that everyone wears their traditional clothes to make the event livelier and more colourful

And for the VERY FIRST TIME, IMU will have a MALAYSIAN NIGHT~ You can have the opportunities to watch and enjoy multi-cultural performances by our students. We'll have dikir barat, sketches, silat, Bhangra dance and many other performances. Make sure you'll come and be entertained!!

Health Wellness Workshop
IMU will be organising a 'Healthy Weight, Healthy Life' workshop on the 31st of October 2009. The event will be held in the IMU Bukit Jalil campus.

The objective of the event is to provide participants with the current medical, surgical and healthy lifestyle changes in diet as well as physical activity essential for a healthy weight and healthier life.

The learning outcomes include :
1. To gain knowledge on the current medical and surgical interventions available for healthy weight control.

2. To gain knowledge on basic dietary, food preparation methods and exercise strategies for healthy weight control.

The fees offered are as follows:

Conference - Harnessing The Resource
The National Population and Family Development Board is organising a conference with the above mentioned title on the 10th and 11th of August 2009.
The event will be held at Menara MATRADE, East Wing, 3rd Floor, Jalan Khidmat Usaha, Off Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur.
Registration fee for this event is RM50.

Rules and regulations of the dance competition

Greetings Batch Reps, this is Arthur of the Dance Club once more.

Touching on the rules and regulations of THE DANCE COMPETITION, here is an UPDATED list of rules and regulations from Ms Sheba. Please post it up on your batch blogs/emails to let everyone know ya? =)


Category E – Dance

1. The theme of this contest is : Health care Go M.A.D ( Make A Difference ).

2. The competition will be conducted on 8th September 2009 .

3. Each team is allowed a minimum number of 2 people and a maximum number of 8 people. Participants may use any number of songs but each team is only allowed a maximum of 6 minutes performance time.

4. Participants may use any dance form(s).

5. Song choices MUST NOT contain vulgarities and obscenity.

6. The dateline for registration is 14th August 2009. Late entries will not be entertained.

7. Participants must be in appropriate “Dance” dress code (i.e. not too revealing), the Judging Committee reserves the rights to bar any participants of the competition, should his/her dress code be deemed unfit.

8. Recycling of dancers to other groups is STRICTLY prohibited.

9. A grace period of 5 minutes will be given to teams who turn up late, after which they will be officially disqualified
